Facebook’s Sheryl Sandberg’s quote during last week’s Q1 earnings call has caught the attention of many TV executives. According to Sandberg, advertisers are increasingly moving towards Facebook for video advertisements as they can reach a more targeted group while paying only a fraction of the price of TV-advertising. While the effectiveness of both ads is still open to discussion, TV networks are also confronted by YouTube, claiming to reach more people in the important 18-49-year-old age demographic than any TV network, on mobile alone. It is clear that TV networks are in the danger zone, however the winner of the online fight is yet to be decided.
After expanding its meal-delivery service UberEats, Uber is now planning on offering merchant-delivery services for companies like Tiffany’s, Louis Vuitton, and Hugo Boss. This would be their latest attempt to find new business endeavors for its logistical network, and is also a response to competitor Gett. Founded in 2010, Gett wants to become the mobile platform for ordering all sorts of “essential” products and services, with examples like Gett Sushi, Gett Grocery, and Gett Dry Cleaning. While both companies could make the lives of many customers easier, we somewhat hope they wait a bit longer before delivering products with a self-driving car…
