Performing a vendor due diligence – confidential
Rabo Corporate Investments was looking to provide a growth loan to VanMoof to support their international expansions plans. They asked SparkOptimus to perform a due diligence to better understand the market developments & trends, the competition & value chain dynamics, the growth projections & associated risks, and the competitive edge of VanMoof.
“We are very pleased with the insights, profoundness, and readability of the report, as well as the way of working of the SparkOptimus team.”
Bastiaan van Slobbe
Director Rabo Corporate Investments
“I am really surprised by the way SparkOptimus drew the whole picture (covering market, competition and internal capabilities), highlighted key attention points, and provided practical advice on how to address them.”
SparkOptimus assessed VanMoof through 3 lenses: proposition & market, organization, and technology. We analyzed the key market trends and VanMoof’s position in each of them, evaluated VanMoof on 5 drivers of competitive advantage and on the threats in the value chain. Based on that, we challenged the top-line growth projections and their sustainability given the VanMoof’s organization and technology capabilities. The result was discussed with both the Rabo Corporate Investments as well as with the management team of VanMoof.
Based on this due diligence SparkOptimus created a comprehensive overview and a critical perspective in the company short-term and long-term ambition plans as well as in the downside risks. This due diligence provided key insights for our client to decide to issue the loan to VanMoof of €12.5 million.
