The annual SparkOptimus weekend trip is always cause for excitement and speculation among all Sparkies. Every year the run-up towards the weekend involves the organisation dropping hints about the destination, causing excitement to rise. All the wonder and puzzling would not go unrewarded when the destination was finally announced: Mallorca!
Traditionally, a healthy balance between work and life (#worklifebalance) is widely embraced by SparkOptimus. There couldn’t have been a more fitting phrase to describe the weekend as a whole. The beautiful views of the old Palma de Mallorca city centre, the sunny weather and a simply stunning sailing trip on a 59-foot catamaran offered some amazing additions to very productive working sessions.
The sessions firstly covered the mission and vision of SparkOptimus, making sure that all our 32 new hires, who have joined us since our previous trip last year, fully understand the Spark DNA. Besides, there are worse places to remind ourselves of who we are than underneath the Spanish sun. The sessions also took time to look back at the continuous development SparkOptimus has seen over the last year such as a 75% year-to-date growth rate with signs of stagnation nowhere to be found.
Last but not least, Sparkies were encouraged to think of improvement possibilities regarding pre-defined topics such as internal knowledge sharing. Ideas were presented during a series of elevator pitches in front of our partners (who insisted on being called ‘the Dragons’). The pitches provided a great basis for discussion and new ideas were carefully recorded. During the next weeks, this input will be transformed into concrete plans and actions that will provide great moments to look back at during our 2018 trip.
See you next year!
