Weeronline is the one of the most popular online weather platforms in the Netherlands. Similar to other online publishers, it was facing challenges to monetize the growing share of mobile traffic. At the same time, management expressed the ambition to become the #1 weather platform in the Netherlands and Belgium and asked SparkOptimus to help with the development of a concrete strategy and plan outlining the steps to make this happen.

What we did
First, SparkOptimus helped sharpening the consumer proposition and reviewed the role of various B2B activities. We then identified and assessed alternative business models, evaluated possible marketing strategies, and mapped resulting organizational requirements. Main recommendations were summarized in a crisp 12-point action plan. To track performance, SparkOptimus designed a KPI dashboard to allow for better business forecasts and more focused development efforts. Finally, Weeronline was supported in assessing various launch- and monetization strategies for its new mobile app.
